How often should a business clean its windows?

For a storefront the glass is doing sales work, and it stops working long before it looks dirty to the people inside.

A storefront window with a circular business sign and cleaning supplies on the ledge.

The trap with commercial glass is that it gets dirty slowly enough that the people who see it every day stop noticing. A customer arriving for the first time has no such excuse.

Common schedules; the right one depends on the street, the season and the traffic.
Business Typical schedule Why
Restaurants and cafés Weekly to every two weeks Handprints at the entrance build fast, and they read as a hygiene signal
Retail Every two weeks The display behind the glass is only as good as the glass
Offices Monthly Less traffic, fewer hands on the doors
Warehouses and industrial Quarterly Unless there is a reception area, which is an office

In winter, street-level glass also picks up road spray and salt.

Our schedules run from weekly to once a year. Every three weeks is a common one: often enough for a busy door, without paying for weekly visits.
